Challenge
Re-design a popular e-commerce website to be more user-friendly and accessible to users outside the brand's target audience.
Solution
A less cluttered, more simplified UI that makes it easier for any kind of user to do what they want to do. More features that empower users to feel confident in their purchases.
Results
100% of users tested reported that the re-design was easier to use and understand.
Post-It Note Sitemaps
In order to figure out how to group the site's content in the nav bar, I had test users put content into groups based on similarity and name them. I designed the final sitemap based on their input.
User Interface Sketches
In order to figure out what I wanted the UI to look like, I made several low-fidelity sketches. I started out with the home page, that way I could set up a consistent aesthetic and follow it on the product page.
Usability Tests
Throughout the course of the project, I conducted and recorded over 20 different usability tests and interviews in order to get a better idea of what people thought of the real Gamestop.com as well as my re-design. I tested many different people from all kinds of demographics (I even tested with my parents). You can find all the recordings and reports on the Final Presentation.
